Payroll Supervisor

NBGHome is the market leader in portable lighting and wall decor in the United States. We are also a rapidly growing player in the decorative soft goods and accent furniture categories.  We are currently seeking a Payroll Supervisor to be based in our corporate headquarters in northwest Austin, Texas.  

 

As a member of the HR Department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely compensation to employees in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations as well as with Company policy.  You will process, or facilitate the processing of multiple weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for approximately 1,000 employees in multiple states and tax IDs utilizing Paycom software.  The Payroll Supervisor is expected to be dependable, work with little direction, and produce excellent and error-free work product with a positive attitude every day. 

 

The ideal candidate is also a good problem-solver, has integrity and good judgment, can manage confidential information appropriately, is approachable, organized, has good energy and temperament, provide excellent customer service, demonstrate strong math and computer skills, and produce a high quality and quantity of work.  Occasional travel is required.   


Job Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure proper tax treatment, accounting, and disposition of withholdings and deductions for taxes, benefits, and retirement contributions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll audit requests.
  • Set up State and local taxes and accounts for new locations.
  • Provide accurate reporting of payroll information as needed.
  • Monitor and audit the data entered into the payroll system for accuracy.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality in the management of financial information.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing

   

Desired Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field…or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience with multiple legal entities
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Extensive payroll knowledge including processes, procedures, laws and compliance, accounting principles, payroll methods, DOL regulations, FLSA, federal and state tax regulations
  • Multi-state payroll experience including reporting and taxation
  • Experience transitioning and assimilating acquisitions
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and sense of urgency, attention to detail and deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and consultative skills to interact effectively and maintain relationships with a variety of people and personalities inside and outside the organization; respond appropriately in sensitive situations
