Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Nielsen Bainbridge Group, a leading global consumer packaged goods company headquartered in Austin, TX is currently seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor for its Corona, CA manufacturing facility with approximately 50 - 75 employees.  The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, dynamic leader and supervisor.  The company offers a challenging and creative working environment, rewarding career opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsible for supervision and coordination of the Blow Fill pillow production area.  Ensure products are manufactured on schedule at standard throughput rates and within cost objectives and quality standards.  Work closely with and provide guidance and leadership to shift employees to help them meet production standards by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Plan daily production based on production schedule and any updated information provided by the planning team.
  • Ensure all raw materials are picked and staged prior to next changeover.
  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.  Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Ensure effective employee relations.  Provide employee coaching and development. 
  • Coordinate quickly and efficiently with plant management when any electrical or mechanical problems arise so as to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure good housekeeping procedures are followed by all shift personnel to maintain immediate and surrounding work areas in an acceptable fashion.
  • Ensure all employees are wearing their personal protective equipment as required and that they are practicing good safe work practices to eliminate potential accidents/injuries.
  • Allocate raw materials to work orders and track production against work orders in ERP system.
  • Submit accurate daily paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain time and production records including employee attendance and disciplinary reports.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of overall efficiency and quality.
  • In the event that any of the equipment is down for any extended period of time during the shift, ensure associates are given specific assignments to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Interface with shipping department to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Ensure all shift personnel are fully trained in their job responsibilities and receive timely notification of any changes to policies or procedures.
  • Participate in Physical Inventory as needed.
  • Cycle count items as required.
  • Understand and enforce company policies.
  • Contribute to plant safety by communicating and correcting unsafe working conditions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience managing production and quality functions.
  • Ability to become certified in Forklift driving and Train the Trainer.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience in appraising and training associates.
  • Experience in planning, assigning and directing work; addressing employee complaints/issues and resolving problems.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written skills.  Proven track record of successfully managing and developing staff.  Ability to drive change, create and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Experience with interfacing with an ERP system and RF scanners.
  • Mechanical aptitude and mathematic skills required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Some college or advanced schooling preferred.  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing operation.
  • Bilingual, preferred but not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, driving, delivering safety presentations, working on a computer and engaging in telephone conversations. In a manufacturing environment, must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards and require some tasks that include walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, and navigating rough terrain.
