Staff Accountant

NBGHome, the nation’s leading global designer, manufacturer and marketer of home décor products and soft goods is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for our Accounting Office in Austin, TX.  The Staff Accountant help oversee the accounting function of a $750 million multi division international operation. This position reports to the Assistant Corporate Controller.

A thorough understanding of manufacturing and distribution center accounting in a standard cost environment and knowledge of budgeting processes combined with excellent analytical skills is a must.  The ideal candidate will have a positive, “can do” attitude and leadership style, experience in a manufacturing environment, (preferred) and strong software skills


Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process and related preparation of financial statements comparing actual results to budgeted and prior period performance for the site.
  • Prepare management written discussion and analysis of operating performance by providing insights as to performance variances and identifying emerging trends.
  • Prepare various profit center and cost center analyses of product / customer / divisional / departmental profitability providing critical analysis to support the information reported.
  • Help coordinate the preparation of the annual financial budget and periodic forecast updates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Assess and analyze standard cost manufacturing/distribution performance and related variances.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvement and financial policy enhancements.
  • Participate in monthly review meetings of financial and operational results.
  • Assist with special projects.


Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience and training with 1-3 years related experience.  CPA/CMA certification (preferred, not required), along with a complete knowledge of GAAP.
  • 1-3 years of responsibilities in a manufacturing, supply chain, sales and distribution environment with multi-unit experience
  • Excellent computer skills and established ease at using MS Excel and Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Previous Experience migrating ERP systems.  Knowledge of Sage X3 and MS Dynamics AX is a plus.
  • Large company experience preferred but not required.
