Human Resources Generalist - Selma, AL

Plantation Patterns, a division of NBGHome, is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality outdoor cushions and umbrellas.  We are currently seeking an HR Generalist based in our Selma, AL manufacturing facility.


This position reports to the HR Manager and supports multiple sites in the Selma and Birmingham area, requiring regular travel between them.

You will be responsible for performing typical Generalist functions in support of the business, as well as administrative tasks. This includes adhering to lawful employment practices, promoting positive employee relations, data entry, answering questions regarding policies and procedures, handling basic issues, maintaining department records, assisting with recruiting, producing routine correspondence and reports, etc.



Education / Qualifications / Experience / Skills


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. HR certification is preferred.
  • At least two years of human resources generalist experience; manufacturing, distribution and union experience are a plus.
  • Competency in Federal and State laws governing human resources activities, such as FMLA, FLSA, Workers Compensation, and Benefits
  • Payroll processing knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Formula and Macro Creation
  • Presenting and delivering information effectively
  • Exercising diplomacy, tact, and good judgment consistently; maintaining confidentiality
  • Making independent judgments and decisions
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
  • Researching, collecting, analyzing, preparing and interpreting data; generating reports, using statistical techniques and application
  • Effective verbal and written communication, proper grammar and spelling
