Product Designer

NBGHome is a leading global designer, manufacturer and marketer of home decor products including custom and ready-made picture framing, lighting, wall décor, indoor and outdoor accent furniture and soft goods. We are currently seeking a Product Designer for our headquarters in Northwest Austin, Texas.

 

You will:

  • create and develop innovative new products for the picture frame, décor, and gift industry.
  • interpret key design directions into a wide variety of styles and materials for products sold across all channels of distribution.
  • Utilized your abilities to sketch, make prototypes, and use a wide range of computer programs within a fast-paced creative group.

 

To be successful, you will need:

  • Outstanding design sense combined with a high level of skill, speed, and accuracy in Adobe CS (MAC) is required. Must be at ease in a fast paced setting and enjoy a hectic, deadline driven environment. Need to be capable of managing multiple design projects and demonstrate an agility to switch priorities quickly without losing momentum. Must balance innovative product design and packaging with functional requirements and aesthetic appeal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required within a highly collaborative design process. Should enjoy working with others and be comfortable giving and receiving feedback on design work. Must be able to track changes, coordinate interdepartmental communications, and incorporate product direction from multiple sources.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas with drawings, sketches, tear sheets, swatches, and computer renderings is mandatory. NBG designers are expected to keep abreast of current trends in color, fashion, related tabletop industries, and competitive products.

 

Specific Education and Skills needed:

  • BS/BA in product design, industrial design, or fine arts
  • Experience in Home Décor or Consumer Goods industry
  • Must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite of software
  • 3D software experience is a plus
  • Understanding of print production processes
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design, packaging, fine art, font selection and composition
  • Ability to track trends in décor and color, and research new developments in products and materials to incorporate into our product designs
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member yet work independently
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Ability to communicate ideas within a collaborative process
  • Prepare and deliver 100% accurate digital art files and product specifications for offshore manufacturing
  • Provide designs, samples, approvals and product specification follow-up throughout the manufacturing process
