Maintenance Technician

Plantation Patterns, a division of NBGHome, is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality outdoor cushions and umbrellas in the United States. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Selma, AL facility maintenance team.   You will maintain the day-to-day operations and  assume responsibility for maintaining the physical assets of the company under the direction of Facilities/Maintenance management.  Candidates must possess a common knowledge of tools; powered and non-powered that may be needed to perform these duties. Duties include but not limited to: lighting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs also minor HVAC repairs, and other duties assigned by the department supervision. Cross-training will be provided in all aspects of the facilities equipment and utilities management programs. This role is a first shift, salary non-exempt position.

 

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO INCLUDE (but not limited to):  

  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.
  • Work within expense and time limits established.
  • Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.
  • Complete "Preventative Maintenance Program" as scheduled.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed by Facilities/Maintenance management.
  • Assist in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled.
  • Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned.
  • Complete grounds work as directed by Facilities/Maintenance management which may include picking up trash, sweeping curb and dumpster areas and maintaining landscaping beds and other areas.
  • Responsible for alerting Facilities/Maintenance management of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.
  • Complete payroll time sheets and mileage reimbursement and submit to supervisor per company guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional courteous manner with all staff, vendors, contractors, and fellow employees.
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner.
  • Follow established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • This job requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.

Skills/Abilities Experience Requirements

  • Knowledge and hands on experience of specific operating equipment.
  • One (1) to three (3) years prior maintenance experience including troubleshooting equipment down to the component level and performing Root-Cause analysis on equipment failures.
  • Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, PC, and PLC Skills experience related to repair these systems is a valuable plus.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to maintain basic computer worksheets.
  • Must be able to effectively converse with Equipment Vendors help desks.
  • Proven Safety record.
  • Lifting and moving boxes will be required.
  • Team player that works well within a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision as well as in a team.
  • If necessary, must be able to work overtime and weekends with little notice.
  • Proof of High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully complete all pre-employment checks (including Drug Screen and Background Check).
  • At times will be required to work other hours than the regular shifts due to scheduled or un-scheduled maintenance.
  • Occasional travel to other company facilities as needed.
