Plant Manager

NBGHome is a leading global designer, manufacturer and marketer of home décor products including custom and ready-made picture framing, lighting, wall décor, indoor and outdoor accent furniture and soft goods. We are currently seeking a Plant Manager for our Bridgeview, IL manufacturing facility with approximately 75 employees.


The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, dynamic leader with experience in at least one of the following industries: sub straights laminations, paper and/or paper converting. The company offers a challenging and creative working environment, a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.

Positon Summary

Plan, coordinate and manage manufacturing, material control, quality control and shipping & receiving activities to ensure customer orders and company products are processed and shipped in accordance with planned schedules, job specifications established quality standards and planned profit objectives. Responsible to direct employees involved in manufacturing and related activities. Hire, train, review work, assist employees, establish production standards, evaluate performance, enforce company rules and recommend changes in employee status. Review the P&L and understand the basic financial control for the operation. Be adept at the fundamentals of the finance side of running a plant: inventory control and reconciliation, standard costing, variance analysis, P&L reviews, budgeting.

• Oversee the production schedules involving manufacturing finished goods, quality control, purchasing, material planning, estimating and shipping and receiving activities while effectively utilizing available resources to fill customer orders and the stocking of service centers.
• Monitor plant activities; assist with problems as necessary to meet planned production schedules and to ensure product quality standards are maintained.
• Recommend and establish department organization, staff responsibilities and related authorities to meet planned objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve unusual problems related to equipment, tooling, material and product designs.
• Work with staff to develop and implement improved operating methods and procedures to increase plant productivity.
• Work with staff to develop and implement training programs and plans to upgrade employee skills.
• Work with staff to develop and implement reporting methods and systems to evaluate and control attainment of department objectives.
• Evaluate and recommend equipment purchases to improve product operations.
• Work with other departments to assist with development of new products or product applications.
• Ensure company conformance with governmental agency, OSHA and EPA regulations.
• Responsible for developing and managing department budget.
• Responsible for Maintenance oversight through the maintenance manager. Including maintenance expense management, overall equipment safety and reliability.
• Coordinate with Sales and Marketing on product development and new product launches.
• Arrange for outside contract services as needed, establish work specifications and negotiate contracts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Process Manufacturing management experience
• Working knowledge of paper and paper converting
• Experience managing production, capital project budgeting and implementation, capacity planning, procurement and quality functions.
• Previous experience interacting and coordinating with Sales to deliver quality product according to promised delivery schedules.
• Superior interpersonal, verbal and written skills. Proven track record of successfully managing and developing staff. Ability to drive change, create and maintain a positive working environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and previous experience with MRP systems.
• Strategic-thinking self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• History of achieving goals and meeting aggressive deadlines.
• Results driven, flexible and open-minded with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Effective presentation, project management and organizational skills.
• Advanced analytical skills and ability to present key findings and recommendations to executive level management with a clear understanding of P&L.
• Regular travel required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred, but other desirable degrees are Business Management, Industrial, Process and Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree or at least five (5) years of equivalent training and experience at a senior level.

Job may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, driving, delivering presentations, working on a computer and engaging in telephone conversation, and loading, unloading and carrying product samples to and from customer locations. In a manufacturing environment, must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards and require some tasks that include walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, and navigating rough terrain.
