Human Resources Generalist

Plantation Patterns, a division of NBGHome, is a manufacturer and distributor of high quality outdoor cushions and umbrellas in the United States.  We are currently seeking an HR Generalist based in our Selma, AL manufacturing facility.  


This position directly supports the HR Manager and must be knowledgeable and experienced in human resources, dependable, provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude every day, demonstrate strong math and computer skills, and produce high quality and quantity of work.  The ideal candidate is also a good problem-solver, has integrity and good judgment, can manage confidential information appropriately, is organized, and has good energy and temperament in a fast-paced environment. This position supports personnel at multiple sites in the Selma and Birmingham area and requires regular travel between them.




You will be responsible for performing the administrative functions of the HR Department. This includes data entry, answering questions regarding policies and procedures, maintaining department records, assisting with recruiting, producing routine correspondence and reports, adhering to lawful employment practices, and promoting positive employee relations.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Create and maintain personnel files
  • Enter and maintain HRIS data
  • Prepare reports and compile statistics
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding, benefits enrollment, annual performance review, etc.
  • Assist in handling basic employee relations issues



Education/Qualifications / Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is preferred.
  • At least two years of human resources generalist experience; manufacturing and union experience a plus
  • Federal and State legislation governing human resources activities
  • Statistical techniques and application
  • Trends in Human Resources Management
  • Payroll processing knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Formula and Macro Creation
  • FMLA, Workers Compensation, and Benefits
  • Presenting and delivering information effectively
  • Exercising diplomacy, tact, and good judgment consistently; maintaining confidentiality
  • Making independent judgments and decisions
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
  • Researching, collecting, analyzing, and preparing data and generating reports
  • Effective verbal and written communication, proper grammar and spelling
