We are currently seeking a Product Category Manager based in Goose Creek, SC. This position reports to the Director of Product Development. The Product Category Manager will be responsible for managing a large category of product through the product development cycle from research and analysis through end of life cycle.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the development, introduction, and life cycle of given products/projects/categories.
  • Market Research, Analysis, and Design Direction: Research, Study, and analyze lighting industry, competitors, and consumer needs to help drive decisions on new product to design, develop, and introduce.
  • New Product Development Tracking: Track approved design concepts through the product development Process (Sketch, rendering, and prototype sample review and analysis).
  • Final Market Selection Process: Responsible for participating and help drive final product selections – Through the use of consumer surveys, customer surveys and team meetings.
  • Item Creation: Responsible to get all items selected for market and production created in our system so they can be ordered to meet the new product introduction timeline.
  • New Product Tracking: Responsible for tracking New Product Purchase Orders to make sure we are on track to hit our deadline dates concerning photography sample in China, Dallas Market samples, Dealer Advisory samples, and production POs are all scheduled to arrive on time.
  • Audit: Responsible for making sure all new product specs and details are audited for accurate product information.
  • Sales: Responsible for tracking sales of Newly Introduced product though its first 18 months sales to quickly identify the products that are selling well and those that are not. Identify common factors related to design, function and price that can be applied to future product development opportunities
  • Lead special projects as well as contribute as a team member
  • Continuously find ways to add value thought the entire life cycle of the product -- from product concept to item being discontinued
  • Frequently coordinate with designers, product teams, suppliers, international offices, QC/QA department, sales, marketing, and purchasing

Skills Required

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with different departments
  • Analytical, detail oriented, global thinker, team player, passionate for product, and proactive

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years relevant experience managing cross functional product
  • Consumer Home Goods experience strongly preferred

Additional information

  • Occasional travel required approximately 10%
  • Ability to work occasional weekends
