 We are currently seeking a Senior Logistics Manager, located in Southaven, MS. The Sr. Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the flow of goods and materials throughout our business. This included work cross functionally to ensure that transportation supports product flow from the Distribution centers and 3PLs through the delivery to customer’s DCs and 3PLs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of outbound transportation business unit, including customer’s transportation department and carrier relations, and all internal operational functions.
  • Manages outbound routing, freight prioritization with carriers and distribution center and execute exception reporting.
  • Oversees and ensure team routes as per customer’s routing guide and guideline.
  • Responsible for an annual domestic RFP, contracts, onboarding, SOP documentation.
  • Assists with the transportation budget as it relates to outbound freights, as well as small parcel, TL, LTL, IMDL activities, and all relates fiscal planning activities.
  • Develops effective working relationships with carriers to secure the most cost-efficient transportation rates and ensures execution of all required business outcomes.
  • Manages outbound Transportation metrics as well as carrier improvement programs and reporting strategies.
  • Identifies key metrics, effectively tracking performance and adjusting providers, modes, routes efficiently to drive cost reduced transportation performance.
  • Ensures that monthly, quarterly, and yearly KPI’s are prepared and published as appropriate.
  • Manages staff, including evaluations, corrective actions, hiring, retention and employee relations
  • Manages external vendors, develop criteria that measures acceptable performances, and holds vendors accountable.
  • Oversees customer charge back relate to transportation.
  • Works directly with distribution teams to drive improvements.
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving upon all KPI’s kept throughout Operations. Actions should be driven through analyzing metric data.
  • Assists in the annual Operational budgeting for all related departments.
  • Assists in the creation of Operational goals for all related departments.

 

Skills Required

A good knowledge of domestic and international logistics and supply chain management, sourcing transportation services, strategic planning abilities, negotiation skills, budget management, mathematics and English, project management skills and communications skills with all levels of management within the company.

Preferred Skills; Systems evaluation, Systems analysis, Social perceptiveness, Persuasiveness, Service orientation, Active learning, Active listening, Monitoring of processes and compliance

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management)
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant activities: transportation management and supply chain environment, customer service management.
  • 1-3 years of experience with transportation budget management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills.
  • Experience working across all levels, from front line associates to senior level leaders.
  • Analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data, and develop, recommend, implement solutions
  • Able to work collaboratively across functions and synthesize multiple points of view into a streamlined action plan. Able to effectively drive results in a fast-paced and rapidly growing company.
  • Familiarity with Incoterm, import, export, and DOT, CHP regulations.
